SEBASTIAN RAUCH – PRAGUE, 1609* (Under Restoration)
Patriarch of the family that included son Sebastian II, Joseph (rel unknown), and Thomas, his grandson. Worked in Wrocław, Poland and Prague, c 1725 – 1790. This instrument loosely based on the Stainer model with abbreviated corners. A marvelous find from a notable Bohemian-Polish violinmaking family. Just underwent restoration.
The violin has typical repairs that would be expected of an instrument of this age. Cracks on the top, securely repaired, a sound post patch on both plates, a neck shim, and a scroll cheek repair,
